Seemingly abstract – colorful spots arrange on the canvas in inscrutable shapes. Seemingly narration-free – do not depict anything specific. But when one looks at them long enough, they can recognize a boat heading somewhere, a land seen from a balloon basket, crucified Christ. Suddenly the paintings start to tell a story. It is not easy to read, especially not for a “one-day” viewer. You have to spend a longer time with Monika’s paintings. They require clearing one’s head. They do not have the answer ready, they do not make it easy. (…) Monika’s painting is a kind of transcript of the artist’s emotions that evoke in her when she has a discourse with matter. Monika tries to capture these conversations on canvas. She does not want to forget them. The viewer can read this dialogue, try to guess the meaning of it, draw conclusions.
